The University of Calabria, situated in Southern Italy, is a public institution established in 1972. The University is a medium-sized university with about 34,000 students enrolled, with 851 teachers, about 800 members of the technical and administrative staff; 14 Departments; about 80 Degree Courses (including specialization courses); 3.500 students’ accommodations. Inside the Campus there also are a Health Service Centre a Bank agency, a Postal Office, 2 theatres (with respectively, 200 and 700 seats); 2 movie theatres (of 250 seats each); 2 amphitheatres for outdoor events; and a day nursery. The development of the international mobility experience confirms its role as a motor of growth for the whole region. More than 2000 students, researchers and teaching staff benefited of a study, research or a teaching period abroad. Cooperation actions with Argentina, Brasil, Burundi, Canada, Chile, China, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Japan, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Morocco, Mexico, Perù, Russia, Senegal, Taiwan, Tunisia, USA, Venezuela and other more countries. Unical was Awarded for Lifelong Learning Program/Erasmus Mobility Study and Placement for the year 2009 - Erasmus Success Stories. UNICAL has established contacts with international organisations such as the FAO, UNESCO and the OECD. University of Calabria has establishing didactic and scientific cooperation with important Institutions in USA, as City University of New York or Italian American Chamber of Commerce of NY, promoting exchange mobility of students and teachers in different fields. In particular, the inclusion of Italian American studies at Calabria University allows the students to have the opportunity to further their studies in America and vice versa. Furthermore, the good relationships developed along the years with China, Indonesia and Vietnam gave the opportunity to host a large number of students coming from that area, and to develop important research activities. More than 750 international students live in the Campus. Last, it is important to highlight the presence of the University of Calabria in the first positions of the Italian University Ranking, CENSIS during the last years and in the ARWU Shangai ranking in the field of Mathematics for the 2014 and Informatics for 2010.
UNIMED, Mediterranean Universities Union, founded in October 1991, is an association of 90 Universities from 22 countries of both shores of the Mediterranean (www.uni-med.net).
UNIMED’s aim is to develop university research and education in the Euro-Mediterranean area in order to contribute to scientific, cultural, social and economic cooperation. UNIMED carries out the following activities to promote the international dimension of its associated Universities: promotion of the international dimension of universities; academic support for the establishment of new universities and faculties; planning and fund-raising activities: information on call for proposals and opportunities offered by international and European Commission, partnership search, technical assistance, planning; dissemination; promotion of mobility in the Euro-Mediterranean region, for students, researchers and academic staff; technical assistance for the enhancement of quality assurance in university education; creation of thematic Sub-Networks to foster the scientific cooperation within specific fields; organization of meetings, discussions, seminars and round tables both at a national and international level; training for academic and administrative staff of Universities, particularly for the personnel of International Relations Offices.
Through the many initiatives carried out over the two decades, UNIMED has promoted the collaboration between universities of the Mediterranean, becoming a point of reference of the international university cooperation.
UNIMED has a track record in EU project participation and management and, particularly, in the development of scientific and educational cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean region. UNIMED has a wide experience in the Internationalisation of HEIs that continues nowadays with the permanent support to the Rectors, Presidents and IRO offices of its associated Universities and with the constant exchange of best practices within the network. In particular, UNIMED has participated as coordinator or as a partner in a number of project addressing the Internationalisation of HEIs in Southern Mediterranean Universities, like the TEMPUS projects IDARA TACHIDA, AQSUL and JOTCIT (2008-2009). UNIMED is currently managing one TEMPUS project: TEMPUS eMEDia - A bottom-up approach for the design and development of a joint Master Course in Cross-MEDia Journalism, and it is partner in others two TEMPUS proposals, one LLP Erasmus, four FP7, two ENPICBCMED and one Erasmus Mundus Action 3. UNIMED is an associated partner in three Erasmus Mundus Action 2 projects.
The University of Évora is a public institution of higher education whose origins date back to 1559. Afterbeing closed in the 18th century, it reopened in 1979. At present time, it is organized in departments that are grouped in schools related to specific domains, such as: Arts, Social Sciences, Science and Technology and Health. Research and Development (R&D) is organized in areas through a network of 14 Research Units all of them submitted to international evaluation and under global coordination of Institute for Research and Advanced Education. Main R&D areas: Agronomy and Biodiversity; Geophysics, Environment and Landscaping; Materials and Surface Science; Economics and Management; Computer Sciences and Software Interoperability; Social & Political Sciences, History, History of Art, Science and Culture Applied Mathematics; Education; Literature; Elderly Healthcare. Participates in LLP projects (Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, etc.), Erasmus + and Erasmus Mundus, actions 1 and 2: EUMAINE, PHOENIX, TPTI, ArchMat, EMMA-WEST, EMMA-EAST, FUSION, LEADER and gLINK. The International Relations Office of the University of Évora coordinates at the present time 2 consortia of Portuguese universities under the Erasmus+ Key-Action 1 for practices.
As a classical university (60,000 students, 3,600 lecturers, 1,900 admin. staff), the UGR (founded in 1531) offers a wide range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. As a public university, the UGR is committed not only to quality and excellence in education, learning and research but also to activities targeting the transfer of scientific, technical and artistic knowledge to society, the betterment of society and a sustainable environment. Its more than 100 departments carry out high quality research and teaching activities at all levels. Furthermore, central services for students, research equipment, continuing education, language training and transfer of knowledge are offered.
Due to its longstanding tradition, geographical location and high standards, both in teaching and research, the UGR regards internationalization as one of its strategic aims. Every year over 4,800 graduate and postgraduate students choose the UGR through full study programmes or via the approximately 800 network and bilateral exchange agreements in which the UGR is involved.

The Vice-Rectorate for International Relations & Development Cooperation has a sound structurecomposed of a governing body (Vice-Rector assisted by four directors for the different working areas: development cooperation; internationalization and promotion; students and staff mobility; networks and projects); the Office for International Relations & University Development Cooperation-ORIC counts with more than 30 full-time administrative staff members working on different aspects such as general management, quality assurance, mobility, networks and projects, development cooperation, communication/marketing and finances (there is a specific financial unit composed of 4 staff members who deal exclusively with the funds and budget coming from diverse national and international sources).
Sirte university as a higher educational institution is involved in many international cooperationprogrammes. It also engaged in several international agreements ( MOU) with different educational universities from all over the world. Those agreements and programmes include different areas of activities such as post-graduate studies, student's exchange , training programmes and capacity building. So Managing such projects and agreements are considering the responsibility of the international cooperation office. The international cooperation office (ICO) acts as a window to the university. It tries to reach the internationalization which every university seeks to achieve. In this connection, the mission of the international cooperation office is to support the university locally and internationally through the international agreements and scientific projects in order to achieve its globalization.Tasks of the International Cooperation Office:

The International relations mission in University of Tripoli is managed by the International Cooperation Office (ICO) which has been established in 2012 instead of the former Cultural Relations Office. The personnel of ICO is composed of the Director, the Vice Director and five employees in addition to the Coordinators Committee which is composed of a representative from each faculty. Coordinating and implementing the bilateral agreements signed by UOT.
Coordinating and implementing the HI European Projects in which UOT is a beneficiary institution.
Dealing with the scholarships offered by foreign institutions.
Managing the Sabbatical Leaves of academic staff members.
Managing the training programs of the personnel (Technicians or Administrative).
UOT through ICO is now engaging in a number of bilateral agreements and in some HI European Projects (Former Tempus and Erasmus Mundus "2007 2013 package"). Because the role of ICO for modernizing and developing UOT is well recognized, as ICO is the key player for networking and benefiting from the experience of potential partners throughout the world, UOT will engage in any available opportunities resulting in empowering and modernizing its international relations service.
Zawia University was constructed in 1988. This university includes 32 faculties and 29 campuses spread in 9 cities and towns. ZU provides a bachelor programs in Sports, Engineering, Arts, Science, Economics and Political Science, Education, Medical Technology, Dental, Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursery, Law and Natural Resources and Information Technology. ZU has (47000) undergraduate students and (1800) postgraduate students, with (3300) faculty members and (3400) non-academic staff, and three general educational hospitals located in three cities (Zawia- Surman- Sabrata). Misurata University is one of ten state universities in Libya located in Libya's third largest city Misurata. The university provides national and international recognized educational services that equip the members of academic community with competencies and values that will better serve the nation. The university has 15 different faculties around the city and we offer more than 60 undergraduate courses.
It aims to provide higher education and training quality to its students and staff and prepare them to take a part in modernizing and developing process of the national and international society and economy. It also aims to promote by research and other means the advancement of knowledge and applied their suggestions and recommendations to economic, social, cultural, technological problems.
From the targets of the university is to accomplish developments in the fields of science, technology, and arts as well as in the field of business to achieve domestic and international objectives. Develop the tools and methodologies of education and scientific research, including educational publications and translation of valuable books, journals and materials. Establish also laboratories needed for education and research processes. Enhance scientific and cultural links and relationships. Share experiences with other local or international scientific organizations and institutions via sending groups of students and researchers and preparing collaborative researches in different specializations as well as holding domestic and international conference. Intensify encounters with other international languages, especially English Language which is considered as medium of communication of modern knowledge and technology.
